More bad planning decisions

The West Berkshire Council planning committee on 4 March approved planning permission for the new warhead assembly facility at Burghfield. On the positive side, this application generated more opposition than any previous plans by AWE: one councillor voted against the proposal; the Environment Agency imposed several conditions on the development related to flooding; there was increased local opposition, and a lot of press interest. Reading Council, who were considering the application the same evening, called for a public inquiry. AWPC and other groups have been calling for a public inquiry since 2002 when the plans for the massive redevelopment at Aldermaston were first announced. Maybe it's time! More details soon.
