The MoD's first report on the replacement of the Trident system is due in September during the parliamentary summer holiday.
This decision (called the "Initial Gate") wil effectively enable the government to go ahead with the commissioning of new submarines. According to the former Secretary of State for Defence the Government will update parliament, after the decision is made. Write to your MP, and ask them to call on the government that the "Initial Gate" decision be delayed until Parliament is in session and can be presented with the report for scrutiny. With the need for massive cuts in the economy, who needs new nuclear submarines?
