A Dust of Shame
26 July 2008
A dust of shame is settling over the world
Day by Day left unheeded
Unattended
To drift in deadening heaps
Blotting out the light of hope;
Its particles falling
From the exploding earth
Blasting from the mouths of powerful politicians
Issuing from gluttonous tables
Gusting from throats baying for blood
To suffocate voices praying "Water"
"Enough food for to-day and to-morrow"
"A safe roof to shelter me"
How long are the merciless to go on
Trampling over the shameeful dust
Before it rises
To coat their tongues and sting ther eyes
Until they gag and weep
With shame?
